Honeypot’s vision is for every child to make the most of their one chance at childhood. We enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers aged 5-12 years by providing residential respite breaks at Honeypot House and on-going outreach support . We give young carers a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home and provide a safe and nurturing environment where children at risk can develop their full potential. In addition to the respite breaks, our Playbus also visits the children in their own communities up to three times a year. It is a specially-adapted double-decker bus offering an exciting and safe environment, where children can learn through play and informal educational activities. The Playbus is also able to reach children who have been referred to us by social services but who have not yet visited Honeypot House. For further information about the work that we do visit our website on www.honeypot.co.uk

The NSPCC’s purpose is to end cruelty to children. Our vision is of a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential. We seek to achieve cultural, social and political change – influencing legislation, policy, practice, attitudes and behaviours and delivering services for the benefit of all children and young people across the UK and Channel Islands. These services include the NSPCC Helpline and ChildLine. The NSPCC’s Helpline is there for any adult worried about a child’s safety or wellbeing, and offers help, advice and support. ChildLine is the UK’s free, confidential helpline for children and young people. Trained volunteers are on hand to provide advice and support, by phone and on-line, 24hours a day. www.nspcc.org.uk

SHINE supports educational projects that work with disadvantaged, disengaged and challenged 6-18 year olds. Our programmes give them the extra support and attention they need to learn the basic but essential tools for life and to raise their achievement levels. SHINE projects include intensive one-to-one literacy and numeracy support, Saturday enrichment programmes, homework support and internet-assisted learning – all specifically designed to make a difference. The Taylor Family Foundation’s grant to SHINE has helped to create and set up a brand new SHINE on Saturdays programme in the London Borough of Merton. www.shinetrust.org.uk

Momentum is a local charity established in 2004. Although an independent charity, Momentum works closely with the Paediatric Department at Kingston Hospital. To date, we have installed a parents’ kitchen, commissioned mosaic murals, created a children’s garden including private areas for oncology patients and designed a equipped a ‘funky’ room for teenagers. With special help from The Taylor Family Foundation, we have also installed some specialist equipment to create a two-bedded high dependency unit which now means that younger children can be treated at Kingston, rather than as far away as Bristol. Our most recent achievement has been the purchase of a fabulous holiday cabin by the sea where our families can spend treasured family time together. We continue to fundraise for on-going support of our families and are currently working on a bigger project to help support families with a special centre outside of Kingston Hospital.
